Mara Llave by Alex Segura & Nickolej Villiger – New Print Comic Strip from King Features

It was around this time last year when Comics Kingdom introduced us to the Alex Segura and Nickolej Villiger comic strip Mara Llave: Keeper of Time. After getting a great start the rumor was that actual paying gigs put Mara Llave on the back burner. Now after catching up (and maybe doing some fine tuning?) the creators have returned to the comic strip.

But it isn’t just returning to Comics Kingdom, King Features Syndicate is making the strip available to newspapers and other print outlets. King has recently issued a press kit for a Sunday-only version of Mara Llave.

A blend of the high-adventure of Flash Gordon and early Silver Age comics, Mara Llave, is a celebration of unpredictable, swashbuckling action mixed with characterization and conflict—as readers slowly learn about Mara’s true origins, and her struggles to fit in on her adopted world. Mara Llave: Keeper of Time, is a serialized romp through time that promises to keep readers in suspense and enthralled.

Both Alex and Nickolej have recently posted to X/Twitter about the second coming.

If past practice indicates future activity the reintroduction should happen in two or three weeks.

Mara Llave: Keeper of Time joins the all-new Flash Gordon, Never Been Deader,

and Comiclicious as recent new print offerings from King Features Syndicate.

  1. I enjoyed the first few strips, but the release cycle and the coming soon image being the only presence for five months made maintaining interest a struggle. I look forward to this becoming a regular read.
