Review: Stay Tooned Magazine #3

Stay Tooned magazine #3

John Read’s third Stay Tooned! magazine is now shipping. I received mine a week ago and am continuously amazed at all of the hard work John puts into it. This issue has a great line up featuring Chad Carpenter (Tundra), magazine gag cartoonist Benita Epstein, freelance Nebraska cartoonist Paul Fell, character designer Cedric Hohnstadt, editorial cartoonist R.J. Matson, Jim Scancarelli (Gasoline Alley), cover artist Richard Thompson (Cul de Sac), and webcomic Pinkerton creator Mike Witmer. It also has articles by Mark Tatulli, creator of Lio, comics historian R.C. Harvey, Norm Feuti, creator of Retail, and Tom Richmond of MAD Magazine.

I’ve kept all three issues so far. I suppose I could recycle them, but the magazine too full of good information that I suppose I’ll be filing them away for many, many years. Thanks to John and all those who he interviewed and provided artwork. Issue #3 is a great read so far!

  1. Stay Tooned never disappoints. I received the latest issue the other week and have read it front to back and back to front. Mulitple times. I don’t know how many times we can thank John for offering such a superb magazine, but thanks again John! Stay Tooned rocks the casbah!

  2. John lives in my neighborhood — so I get a close-up view of how much passion he has for the magazine. Not only am I thrilled with each issue, I am excited for his success. Congrats John and keep ’em coming!

  3. I just want to join the chorus of John Read admirers. You can just tell that John enjoys what he does by the volume of information in these books. And John always asks the right questions to cartoonists, and lots them. Well done as usual and my fervent hopes for many more, John!
