Joe Wos’s “World’s Largest Hand Drawn Maze” will be on display from Aug. 7 through Sep. 1st at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg, PA. The maze has been submitted to Guinness Book of World Records as a world record. It measures over 30 feet by 4 feet and 1000 dead-ends. Joe started the maze last summer (2012).

From the press release:

One of Wos’s life long dreams was to get into the Guinness Book of World Records. Realizing he lacked even the smallest amount of athletic skill, Wos decided to undertake a more cerebral approach. While art is often subjective and therefore ineligible for Guinness consideration, Joe submitted a proposal for his maze, which was accepted. He then set to the daunting task of actually drawing the massive work of interactive art.

“Drawing mazes has always been an exercise in contemplation, a way of meditating.” Said Wos, “But for the person solving this I imagine it is an exercise in frustration and mental anguish.”

You can see part of the maze in a interview segment Joe gave last November.
