Rod Gilchrist, Cartoon Art Museum director, passes

I neglected to mention yesterday that Rod Gilchrist has passed away of brain cancer late last month at the age of 58. Rod was the executive director of the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco.

In a San Francisco Chronicle story, Mutts creator Patrick McDonnell said of Rod, “he just treated comic art with such dignity and respect. Some people express themselves with paint, others with little doodles. Rod appreciated the beauty of what we do.”

There will be a public celebration of his life on March 20, at 7 p.m., at the museum.

I cannot imagine life without his love and devotion. He will
be missed so sadly but all who knew and loved him.

    His Mom
