Over on the Hogan’s Alley discusssion board is a brief interview with Dan Piraro and Dave Coverly regarding their inclusion into Parade Magazine. It appears that they were sought out by the magazine and that their work will appear on a not-set-but-probably-every-other-week schedule.
Over on RACS, D.D.Degg reports that yesterday’s Parade magazine didn’t feature Bunny Hoest’s Howard Huge, a cartoon staple of the magazine since 1980. Earlier this month I reported that the magazine had begun running other cartoonists including cartoons by Dave Coverly, Carla Ventresca, Dan Piraro, Donna Barstow and Gary McCoy.
Earlier, I reported the Parade magazine was going to start running cartoons by Dave Coverly and Carla Ventresca. E&P reports that last Sunday’s line up included Dan Piraro, Donna Barstow and Gary McCoy.
From E&P comes news that Beetle Bailey creator Mort Walker is now publishing a full-color 20 page magazine called Mort Walker’s The Best of Times. The new Indie Spinner Rack, #88, was released on Wednesday. The latest issue of the audio magazine features part one of an overview of the MoCCA Art Festival and post-show events, including some of the notable book premieres that sold out, post-show parties and plenty more.
New Yorker cartoonist J.B. Handelsman has passed away at the age of 85. According to his obituary in the New York Times, he had nearly a thousand cartoons published in the New Yorker. The Comics Reporter has more information along with several related links.
