Matt Wuerker has announced that he has been selected to be the staff cartoonist for The Capitol Leader. The new paper will debut on November 21. Matt has been a full-time freelancer for the last 25 years. His duties also include providing caricatures and other art for the paper.
KAL will be speaking to a special event sponsored by the League of Woman Voters on November 27 in Baltimore. His lecture is entitled KAL Draws Criticism: Political Cartoons and The Democratic Society. There is a charge for admission.
Liberty Meadows creator Frank Cho has won Best Artist and Best in Show at the Gijon’s International Comic Convention according to Comics Reporter Tom Spurgeon.

Hy Eisman, the current cartoonist behind Popeye and the Katzenjammer Kids will be conducting a workshop at the Newark Museum this Saturday. The Masters of American Comics is currently on display at the Newark Museum, so I suspect the two events are connected. Pre-registration is required.
