Continental Features, who provides Sunday color comic packages to nine southeastern states has been sold to Rae Media, according to E&P. In addition to color comic packages, Continental syndicates a small number of columnists and editorial cartoonists including Christopher Doyle, Margaret and Gene Engeldinger who create the Engelzingers feature, and caricaturist PIKE.
Jack Elrod, who has worked on the Mark Trail comic since 1950, will be honored with the Outstanding Forestry Journalism Award from the Society of American Foresters during that organizations national convention in Oregon this week. From E&P we learn that The Cartoon Museum in San Francisco will present the 2007 Sparky Award to Creig Flessel who worked on the David Crane feature from 1960 through its end in 1971. The Sparky Award is named for Charles M. Schulz.
