Checker Book Publishing has teamed up with King Features to publish an early Beetle Bailey collection. The first book is entitled Mort Walker’s Beetle Bailey 1950-1952. The book should hit bookshelves in May or June of this year.

Wes Alexander, who’s comic strip Stormfield was syndicated through DBR Media, has passed away at the age of 42 of causes yet to be disclosed. According to Journalista!, his feature had reached 450 newspapers.You can read more about Wes over on the Great Lakes NCS chapter site.
Guy Gilchrist writes in to tell me that starting next week, the Nancy comic strip will be provided to subscribing newspapers and web sites in color. The decision was made to enhance the art on the web and have control over the coloring.

Paul Gilligan, creator of Pooch Cafe has mentioned that the 3000th Pooch Cafe comic ran last Thursday. The feature was first launched in 2000 with Copley News Syndicate but then moved to Universal in 2000. You can see the very first strip on his blog.
