Cartoonist Ron Coleman will be taking over as publisher of The Gag Recap as of October 15,2024.
The Gag Recap is a marketing newsletter for cartoonists and was first published in the 1950’s. Van Scott, the current publisher has been putting out this newsletter for the past 13 years. Scott, a gagwriter, is stepping away from the publication to devote more time to his writing.
If I have the chronology right (which is not assured) the editors of The Gag Recap were
Earl Temple 1954 – 1963
Al Gottlieb 1963 – 1999
Bill Keough 1999 – 2012
Van Scott 2013 – 2024 (The New Gag Recap)
and now Ron Coleman 2024 – on

Ron says, “that in October when I put out my first issue, everyone who requests it will get a free copy. After October anyone who signs up gets their first issue for free.”
Ron Coleman is not new to this game.
[Ron has] been a freelance cartoonist part-time for about 50 years, having sold my first cartoon while in the eighth grade. Since that time my work has appeared in hundreds of magazines, newsletters, newspapers and online. My most notable sales were to Saturday Evening Post, Official Detective, Medical Economics, and Hustler Humor.
My day jobs consisted of working for movie studios in Los Angeles including Paramount Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Orion Pictures and Walt Disney Studios. My work in these studios was mostly in the areas of payroll, publicity and advertising. I am now retired but remain active in cartooning.
