E&P is reporting that Luann cartoonist Greg Evans will be speaking at the Charles M. Schulz Museum on March 17 to discuss Schulz’s influence on his comic.
Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau was one of the featured speakers for a tribute to film director Robert Altman who past away last November according to E&P. Garry worked with Altman on two “Tanner” HBO series in 1998 and 2004. Other speakers included: Harry Belafonte, E.L. Doctorow, Kevin Kline, Julianne Moore, Tim Robbins, and Lily Tomlin.
For those in the Pittsburgh area, The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder will be in Pittsburgh tomorrow evening to meet the public (and presumably speak). A leadership conference in Reno NV has been organized to give seventh and eighth grade students learn public speaking, time management and school spirit and Pickles creator Brian Crane will be one of the featured speakers.
Wee Pals cartoonist Morrie Turner is scheduled to speak at Alfred University (Alfred NY) on February 3rd during their second annual Drawn to Diversity program. The program was created to delve into equality and diversity in art and media. This year’s program specifically looks at the funny pages.The event is free to the public.
From E&P comes news that Hector Cantu, the writer for the comic feature Baldo, will speak at Purdue University on January 15th, Martin Luther King Day. His speach is entitled “Lowriders, Abuelitas, and Chica Power! Fighting for a Voice on the Funny Pages.”

Jules Feiffer is in Arizona this week. Today he speaks at Arizona State University at 4 p.m. to give a presentation called “A Discussion with Feiffer: The Art of Social Commentary on Stage, Film and Paper.” The event is free and open to the public. The Arizona Republic also profiled Jules’ visit.
