Scott Stantis, who begins September 1 as the Chicago Tribune’s staff editorial cartoonist, said good-bye as a member of The Birmingham News. His last cartoon for the newspaper can be seen here.

Alexa Kitchen, who is twelve years old, has a new book from Disney-Hyperion Books, “Grown-ups Are Dumb (No Offense).” She was nominated for two awards in 2007: a Harvey Award for Best New Talent and an Eisner Award for Best Publication for a Younger Audience.

A new electronic comic reader was introduced at Heroes Con, called the Longbox. It’s a digital comics platform similar to iTunes, and it is expected to launch later this year as a free download for Mac, PC, and Linux.
