Tom Richmond reports that MAD magazine will go from a quarterly mag to bimonthly. No further details, but as John says this will mean not only a lot more MAD to be had but also a return to more topical material. MAD has been hampered by being completely unable to riff on timely subjects due […]
Douglas Wolk, writing for the New York Times, writes about the surge of comic strip republications lately. As the modern-day American newspaper comic strip slowly chokes to death, done in by shrinking spaces and exhausted franchises, its more vibrant ancestors are living in renewed luxury. Congrats to Rob Tornoe: I’m happy to announce that starting with March’s issue, I’m back drawing cartoons for Editor & Publisher magazine. For those of you that don’t know, E&P is the monthly trade journal that has covered the newspaper industry for 125 years. Back in December, there was a bit of a scare when […]

And always remember, […]
I reported earlier that seven people were arrested in Ireland for allegedly plotting to kill Swede cartoonst Lars Vilks. A Pennsylvania woman who calls herself “JihadJan” has also been arrested in connection to that assassination plot. Ms. LaRose, 46, was arrested in Philadelphia in October, but her case was kept under seal. Although the indictment […]
Hat tip to Rob Tornoe for finding this video. It’s Chicago Tribune editorial cartoonist Scott Stantis drawing one of his editorial cartoons. One of the things I enjoy about watching these type of videos is seeing their process. I observed Scott doing most of the pencilling in the beginning (like most), but also going back […]

Just noticed badcartoonist.com’s domain is expired. If I understand domain registration lapses, Bad Cartoonist has 60 or 90 days to renew it after it expires, otherwise it goes back into the pool of available domains. Since it lapsed on January 30, S/he has but a couple of weeks to reclaim it.Since the domain has not […]
