Peanuts Music Owner Sues Trump Admin, Heritage Auctions, Others for Copyright Violations

According to The Independent, Lee Mendelson Film Productions has filed four lawsuits against for entities who allegedly violated copyright in using music without permission. The four entities are the Interior Department, Heritage Auctions, Buckle-Down Inc., GameMill Entertainment.

According to the lawsuits, the Interior Department allegedly used Vince Guaraldi’s O Tannenbaum in social media posts and a digital holiday card. Heritage Auctions alleging used Linus and Lucy in social media posts to promote its auctions of collectibles. Buckle-Down Inc., who makes Peanuts themed products allegedly used copyrighted music in their social media posts, and lastly GameMill Entertainment allegedly included two songs by Guaraldi in its 2025 “Peanuts” video game Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club.
