CSotD: State of the Union

Pat Bagley of the Salt Lake Tribune does a fine job of summing up the disappointment of Obama supporters.
Yesterday, I wrote about the futility of thinking voters are going to sit down, rationally consider all the candidates on their merits and then make a choice based on an objective and thoughtful assessment of the nation's needs.
But the futility that drives me crazy is a bright guy who comes into office, tries to assemble a bipartisan team to govern by consensus, and, three years later, with his underwear jerked up over his head and his lunch money gone, calmly steps out of the locker into which he has once again been stuffed and begins to make another rational, even-tempered, sensible speech, on the apparent theory that those who oppose his policies will finally listen, reflect and repent.
Bagley proves that a picture is, indeed, worth 1,000 words, or maybe I prove it, because, clearly, recapping his cartoon in words is nowhere near as effective as reprinting it. I guess being a progressive in Utah must sharpen the pen.
In any case, we voted for Bruce Banner on the theory that he wasn't really Bruce Banner, and we're still waiting for him to get angry and for the shirt to start ripping and it isn't happening. At this point, I think most voters want him to just shut up and start clobbering people.
In this short lecture, Dr. Dennis Green, Chief Political Analyst of the Arizona College of Cardinals, discusses the president's first term, for some reason using the term "Bears" to describe the Republican opposition and the term "pre-season" in place of the more familiar "campaign season."
