Comics Kingdom Updates for a Better Reading Experience Once again a comic strip platform, this time Comics Kingdom, is updating their site. It is not a wholesale upgrade of the kind where the site is messed up for a week or two, these are minor tweaks. First up is they have added a “like” button […]
Recently while reading a review of Hal Foster’s Tarzan—The Complete Sunday Comics 1931–1937, I was dismayed to see a young Tarzan’s derrière directed directly in my direction. And it wasn’t just a delineation of a duff, but a full double-wide. With a dimple. If I did a double-take, did readers in the 1930’s? When did […]

The art of today’s October 26, 2025 Sunday Prince Valiant page is credited to “Foster Murphy Yeates.” That’s Hal Foster, J. C. Murphy, and Thomas Yeates – all the signatures in the artists’ own styles by the way.As Aleta spins her tale of the past, Yeates has reached into the past for the illustrations. For […]

Generally, Saturday is the day for burying weak gags and inconsequential “group hug” story arc endings. For some reason, a whole lot of people ignored that pattern today, including Olivia Jaimes, who broke out of the New, Improved Nancy’s dadaist pattern for this more insightful piece. Not her first. A few more in the mix and […]
Today’s Duplex brings back some memories. This is a good example of “kidding on the square,” though, while parasitic credit card companies don’t waste their mailers on people who have a grip on their personal budgets, I doubt they actually target people who pay late. But I’m quite sure they share the news of who signs up […]
Okay, it’s always stuff I like. That’s the format. But here’s #4000 for Prince Valiant, which is not only an impressive record for a Sunday-only strip but a good example of a re-invigorated zombie strip as well as a strip that happens to be a foundation for my love of comics and a very fine piece […]
Dave Kellett with one of the least-pressing issues of our time: What to name the router. And yet, not only is he right, but he is, as so often is the case, funny. You have to name the router. There is no reason the name has to be clever. All that is required is that, when you log […]
Thomas Yeates debuted yesterday as the new artist for Prince Valiant. I tend to be more prone to dissect stories than go into detail on artwork, but the art has always been a critical element in Prince Valiant.Yeates (I find) has drawn swords before, not like Mercutio but in the sense relevant to this blog. […]
As reported earlier, Cul de Sac creator Richard Thompson has put the strip into reruns for a few weeks while he undergoes some Parkinson’s therapy, but, since Sundays are generally on a different schedule and I don’t remember ever seeing this one, I think it’s new.And I don’t much care if it’s a rerun because […]
