Kudzu to end in August

Reed Brennan Media Associates has announced that Kudzu by the late Doug Marlette will end in August.Due to the untimely death of creator Doug Marlette, Kudzu dailies will cease syndication with the release of Saturday, Aug. 4. The final Sunday will appear on Aug. 26.

M. Wartella starts Runnin’ Scared for Village Voice

M. Wartella is starting a new comic for the legendary New York alt-weekly Village Voice called Runnin’ Scared.The weekly, half-page, full-color feature “deals strictly with local news issues,” Wartella told E&P, adding that the cartoon “isn’t available anywhere online — it’s only in the ‘dead tree’ edition.”

More Cartoonists Added to Cagle.com

E&P reports that Daryl Cagle has added more cartoonists to his web site, including Mike Luckovich, who is returning after a 4-year hiatus.Others new to Cagle’s site are Jeff Darcy of The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, the conservative team of Allen Forkum and John Cox, and alternative cartoonist Tim Eagan.

The Wild Life of Love Takes Bronze

Leigh Rubin’s collection of Rubes cartoons, entitled The Wild Life of Love, has received the bronze medal for humor in Foreward Magazine’s 2006 Book of the Year Awards, according to the Creators Syndicate website, where you can get all the details.The single-panel Rubes, originally self-syndicated, now runs in more than 400 newspapers nationwide.
