Yoshito Usui, best known for his Japanese cartoon series “Crayon Shin-chan,” was found dead from an apparent fall from a cliff. The artist had been missing since September 11. He had told family that he was going to hike in the mountains north of Tokyo but never returned.

A new exhibit of original artwork has opened in Ocala, Florida featuring 11 cartoonists from the state. Mike Lane, the former editorial cartoonist for the Baltimore Sun, has announced that he will retire from syndicated editorial cartooning. Mike was one of the first to join Daryl Cagle’s new syndicate, Cagle Cartoons Syndicate. In an email to Daryl, he writes that he’ll spend his time doing “watercolors, greeting cards, perhaps, whatever.”
