Peter Scratch 1965-1967 Dailies & Sundays by Elliott Caplin and Lou Fine

From the team that created Adam Ames, writer Elliott Caplin and artist Lou Fine return to newspaper strips with an eccentric yet brilliant hardboiled series, Peter Scratch. Darker than Rip Kirby with a Peter Gunn-meets-Spillane demeanor, Scratch tackles mysteries with a savage and nihilistic attitude, and approaches the ladies the same way. With the aid of his pistol-packing mama, Lucretia, who shares her son’s facility with guns, Peter fights crime with aplomb. Caplin and Fine, along with art assistants Neal Adams, Jack Sparling and others, explore the underbelly of the underworld within this short lived series of two-fisted action!

Buck Ryan 1937-1939 dailies by Don Freeman and Jack Monk

Assisted by the gorgeous Zola, Ryan takes on the underworld and foreign spies in a variety of adventures that evoked Dick Tracy in violence and brutality. Writer Don Freeman and artist Jack Monk created a no-nonsense hero for an uncertain time and a country in the shadow of World War II.

popularity, the three find that their skills are needed at home performing in air shows. Finally, they fly
overseas to Japan and India! The team of Glenn Chaffin and Hal Forrest are at their creative peak in
these early 30’s newspaper strips!

Drawn to Beauty The Life and Art of Vincent Colletta by Franklin Colletta

This is the infamous Vince Colletta’s life story as a key part of the golden age of comics, as told by his son, with hundreds of illustrations, in colour and black and white, displaying his controversial style as inker and artist. For some, Colletta was a too-swift hack, for others, he drew the most beautiful women, and men, in comics, especially in the romance genre. Regardless, Colletta was best known for his many years at Marvel, where his influence was arguably larger than other, better known stars. This handsome, hardcover collector’s edition is sure to be on the Christmas list of every comic collector, and as such, should sell out its first edition quickly.
