2026 King Features Directory

A little late getting to this. The 2026 King Features Syndicate Directory was released last month.

The syndicated to newspapers panels and strips number 53, two less than last year. Missing are Tina’s Groove and Mara Llave-Keeper of Time. (Tina’s Groove will appear below as a digital comic.) No new comics added.

Changes include the Olive & Popeye strip downgraded to once a week from twice weekly. Apparently Emi Burdge, who left the comic last Fall, won’t be returning and King Features won’t be replacing her.

Twenty “digital” comics are listed, four more than last year. The additions are the above mentioned Tina’s Groove plus Mostly Gravy, Oddly Enough, and the King Features Weekly Service comic strip Amber Waves. Disappointingly The Directory doesn’t list the King Features Weekly Service comics or features. That link hasn’t been updated for years (a decade?). But I do know that Out on a Limb, The Spats, and Just Like Cats & Dogs still appear in weekly newspapers.

As for the Classic Comics – Sam & Silo appears in at least one daily newspaper; don’t know about the others.

The Political Cartoonist page remains the same as last year minus the third paragraph list of the contributors. Those syndicated by KFS are John Branch, David M. Hitch, Lee Judge, Jimmy Margulies, Mike Smith, and Kirk Walters. Margulies remains on the King Features roster but is also on the Cagle Cartoons page (?!). Ed Gamble hasn’t shown up at Comics Kingdom since last Spring (I think we missed his quiet retiring).

Friend Joe Wos’ MazeToons is listed in the puzzles and games section.

  1. Mara Llave-Keeper of Time was a great strip, but unlucky.

    1. I had forgotten about the strip. It seemed interesting to start but I never saw it reliably when it was publishing, because Comics Kingdom is somehow really, really bad at the ‘display a page of my favorites’ business.

  2. I am primarily syndicated by King Features. My affiliation with Ca is for one time reprints only

    1. Thanks for the behind-the-scenes information.

  3. WANNABE is misssing from the digital list.

    1. You’re right, missed that. Wannabe joined Comics Kingdom on November 10, 2025 and the 2026 Directory has a date of February 20, 2026. If it was a print publication I could see the omission but this is a digital index. Seems Wannabe could have been added anytime during the process (and even now).

      1. I certainly hope that’s the case. Wannabe is one of my current favorite comics and I certainly hope it will stick around.
