Clay Jones’ Streak Ends

3,080.

Eight years, five months and five days.

That is how many days in a row that Clay Jones created and posted a political cartoon to GoComics.

As Clay posted today “the streak is over.” Not due to any lack of desire on his part.

It should be noted that each one of those cartoons had an accompanying column to go with them.

His 3000+ uninterrupted daily editorial cartoons is unlikely to be broken,

but we wish Clay a quick road to recovery so he can give it another go at his own record.

  1. Thoughts and prayers, warm wishes and hope for a speedy recovery. We need your boot up some backsides.

  2. Thank you, Clay! I have enjoyed your cartoons and blog for years, and I love your work!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery! I am looking forward to your brilliance again in the future!!

  3. Clay Jones strikes me as a person with an intrinsic need to create. If doing so in his previous way winds up outside his grasp, i suspect he will (fortunately for all of us) find a new way to add to our world. Perhaps pointillism is in his future, or photography, or more sweeping lines using his other hand, or even something farther afield. I think he will soar again, just with changes.

  4. Get well soon. Your cartoon ideas are excellent !!!

  5. I say the streak CONTINUES in his head, for now, and when Clay recovers his art and creativity will flow higher, further, faster… Get well soon, Clay!
