TDC Senior Strippers 2025 Welcome Floyd Norman

A profile of Floyd Norman Disney Legend:

Though he prefers to be called a “cartoonist,” few other artists working in animation today can boast a career as varied as that of Floyd Norman. From the 1950s to today, Floyd’s diverse career, insightful viewpoint, and unflinching honesty have truly made him a Disney Legend.

Floyd E. Norman was born on June 22, 1935.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Norman and welcome to The Daily Cartoonist’s Senior Strippers Club!

But Floyd was more than a Disney animator and storyteller. As the Society of Illustrators Hall of Fame bio tells us he spread his talents to his own Vignette Films, to Hanna-Barbera, to Pixar, and repeated call-backs to Disney.

And Floyd didn’t just stay “cel-ular” he expanded into print, including the Mickey Mouse comic strip.

  1. there was another kind of “stripper” absolutely necessary to the production of cartoons back in the second half of the 20th century. They were backshoppers who cut and glued halftones to high contrast page negs and cut holes in many sheets of goldenrod to make the several per color tints needed for the illusion of “full” color before desktop/WYSIWYG took over. I was cartoonist by day and stripper by night. my ID showed “stripper” as my job title, to the endless amusement of the night-shift guards
