Happy 90th Birthday to Warren Sattler.
Being born on September 7, 1934 entitles him entry to our Senior Strippers club.
Warren was a comic strip cartoonist from 1960 working with Crockett Johnson on the reinvigorated Barnaby through the end of the 20th Century with King Features and Gil Thorp and Grubby.
The comic strips Warren worked/assisted on included Barnaby (1960-62); The Jackson Twins (1963-72); Bringing Up Father (1984-94); Slylock Fox, Comics For Kids (1992-93*); Hi and Lois (1990s); and Gil Thorp (1994-96). He also created his own weekly strips: Grubby (1984-97) and Swamp Brats (1980-81).
For me he was most familiar as an artist for Charlton comic books from 1971 – 1977, and on Cracked Mazagine 1978 -1984. He also contributed to National Lampoon during the 1970s when I was still reading that magazine.
We wish Warren a happy birthday and thank him for being an enjoyable part of our youth.
Now the 2024 list of cartoonists who for 90+ years continue
