For some reason, today's "Free Range" took me a minute. I think Tonto's delighted expression and the word balloon drew my attention so well that I hadn't even noticed what Kemosabe was up to.

I like the ones that sneak up on me.

Incidentally, this cartoon also has some resonance with the recent posting on cultural and pop-cultural references. What percentage of the audience has ever actually seen an episode of "The Lone Ranger"?

Yes, I know they made a movie version, but that was nearly 30 years ago and nobody saw it then, except maybe Klinton Spilsbury's mother.
