For several weeks now, Retail has been starting a secondary storyline about its main character, Marla, and her impending marriage. That should send up all sorts of warning flags, since the strip has been tightly focused on retailing, but (1) if Norm Feuti brings the same cynical reality to weddings that he's brought to management and customers, this may be a fun side trip and (2) Marla's social life has never really been part of the strip, so there is nothing to be lost as there generally is when a character's love life changes.

Also, (3), he's never been afraid to quietly jettison a thread that isn't working out.
