Doonesbury.com will be releasing a book of quotes regarding the Iraq War that have turned out to be wrong. The book entitled, “Doonesbury.com’s The War in Quotes” will have a forward by Garry Trudeau and run 144 pages.
Some of the legendary quotes featured in the book include President Bush’s “major combat operations in Iraq have ended,” Vice-President Cheney’s “we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators,” and Donald Rumsfeld’s “I don’t do quagmires.”
I can’t find the book on Amazon, but if I do, I’ll add it to the book store.
That is interesting. As would be a collection of badly misleading headlines.
Yours would be a fair example. “Wrongful” does not have the meaning “later proven to have been gawdawful stupid”. It has, instead, a connotation of intentional incorrectness, unfairness, and illegality. A wrongful quote might be a mis-attributed one, especially if it were done by intention.
