CSotD: Working with kids and dogs

Brian Anderson's "Dog Eat Doug" is a quiet little cartoon that regularly provides nice artwork and funny ideas. I suppose it helps if you like dogs and very small children, because it's clear that he does, and, while he sometimes sends them into fanciful arcs of make-believe, much of the time, he simply chronicles the partnership. Sophie, the dog, is often resentful of Doug and tries to stay out of reach, but is certainly not averse to spilled, shared or stolen food.
Not only do I recall that from my own kids and even my younger siblings, but, as it happens, my mother sent me some old pictures last week that included a candid shot of a small dog I once owned caught standing in the middle of a kitchen table she once owned. Well, timing is everything in comedy.
And I love Doug's hair.
