On September 8 the Cartoon Art Museum of San Francisco will have Betsy Streeter available as their latest Cartoonist-in-Residence. Betsy does the Brainwaves comic seen on GoComics.com.

Robb Armstrong, creator of Jump Start, recently spoke to La Follette High School in Madison WI. Robb, who speaks to over 5,000 students a year, came to speak to speak about overcoming challenges and starting your life track early.

Last Sunday, Mike Lynch was going to panel a discussion on cartooning and Long Island along with Bunny Hoest and Stan Goldberg. Mike has posted photos of the event.

Stan Goldberg (Archie Comics), Bunny Hoest (The Lockhorns), and Mike Lynch (magazine cartoonist) will be paneling a discussion on 1940s and 1950s comics and the post-war Long Island life this Sunday at the Long Island Museum. The event is free and runs from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau spoke at the Goucher College graduation ceremony over the weekend and apologized for being “yet another baby boomer peddling wisdom to the micro-managed children his generation has produced.”

Information regarding this year’s Festival of Cartoon Art has been posted on the OSU’s Cartoon Research Library’s web site. Wiley Miller (Non Sequitur), Corey Pandolph (Bark Eater Lake/Elderberries), Lincoln Pierce (Big Nate) will be paneling a discussion at this year’s Maine Festival of the Book on June 22-24. The festival is organized by a non-profit organization to support literacy in Maine.

Mike Lynch has posted the first part of a speech that Charles M. Schulz gave (presumably at a NCS function) about his life as a cartoonist. He later posts a link to Hoggan’s alley that contains the full speech.

For Better of For Worse creator, Lynn Johnston, will be on hand on Saturday May 5th at North Bay Ontario to meet fans and sign books. She’ll also be in Sudbury Ontario on May 6th. Check her web site for time and location.
