Bizarro takes un-cluttering to a whole other level. Sort of.This un-cluttering thing has come along at a bad time for me, because I’ve reached a point where I want to live simply — I’m in a three room apartment but envy this place because it’s so much more efficient — and I’m also old enough […]
Steve Sack comments on the Chinese woman who wandered into Mar-A-Lago with some malware and god knows what intentions, which also ties into the administration’s general “It’s okay: He’s with me” attitude towards security clearances. The official response has been “See? We caught her! No problem!” but that’s a damn fool attitude. We in the media used […]
I’ve been tempted to go one of two directions lately: Either to run an entire day of Joe Biden cartoons or to run an announcement saying “No blog today. There was nothing but Joe Biden cartoons.”Jeff Danziger offers an antidote of sorts.I don’t really think — and I doubt Danziger thinks — that the Russians […]
I hesitate to ignore the Biden Huggy cartoons lest they start to pile up and block the exits, but it is Friday and so let’s have some funnies instead.Over at Zits, Jeremy and Pierce discovered, to their mutual embarrassment, that they both enjoy reading kids books. I thought the punchline on this particular strip was […]
I’ll admit I came to this morning’s blog posting in a negative mood, having trudged through King Features’ new, improved website for the first time, but also-and-mostly having seen enough Joe Biden cartoons in the last 48 hours to last a lifetime.Well, Mark Streeter at least concedes that, while it is an irresistible topic for cartoonists, […]
Signe Wilkinson scores with what I’m calling a “Naked Emperor Moment,” wherein someone says what others have had on their minds but didn’t dare bring up.The perfect is the enemy of the good and, while I’m glad to see the DNCC has not pre-approved a candidate in advance this time, the nit-picking does suggest that […]
If Sheldon‘s duck, Arthur, had swallowed an encyclopedia instead of a dictionary, he’d understand electrical wiring. It’s a bit of a disability, being bright enough to ask the question but not bright enough to figure out the answer. He wouldn’t be content with the explanation my dogs have always accepted, either, which is that, when I walk […]
I’m going light on the commentary and heavy on the comics for April Fool’s Day. Here’s what people found in their papers 75 years ago, on April 1, 1944:Of course, there was a war on, and D-Day was still two months away, though the Eastern Front was lively:Which didn’t stop the flow of internal politics:Though […]
Let’s dismiss the politics first, so we can talk about the Sunday Funnies instead.Rob Rogers charges that a lot of “It’s over, let’s move on” messages are coming from the Russian troll factories, and you’d have to be pretty foolish to disagree. We know they’re already working on the 2020 elections. But there are plenty of […]
There are all sorts of cartoons about Barr and the Mueller Report, but Tom Toles both made the point and got a laff, so he wins.Looks like we’re gonna need some laffs, because it’s becoming clear that truth is losing whatever toe hold it had, at least in the opposition camp.In Trump’s latest rally, he […]
Pajama Diaries sparks a high school memory, which is appropriate since what Jill is dealing with is a high school kid old enough to have a social life but not old enough to have her own car.My GF and I had a standing date Friday night to watch a movie at her house, which fortunately […]
I’m already sick of responses to the Mueller Report and have begun sarcastically asking people to share their copies, since they obviously couldn’t be so sure if they hadn’t read the whole thing. So I like Ann Telnaes‘s take, which nicely combines the little information Barr has released with the fact that, even if he is […]
Sousa and Machado‘s commentary on the Barr Report of the Mueller Report is a bit light on metaphor, but, first of all, sometimes being direct is the right choice. Too much subtlety can obscure the point.Second is that they understood that point, and I’m gobsmacked by the number of political cartoonists on both sides who […]
Pantalone: What are we to make of this fellow? Is he knave or fool? Lombardi: I really don’t know. Probably a little of both. — Carlo Goldoni, “Servant of Two Masters”If I had a little more […]
For the moment, Barry Blitt owns the Mueller Report, and I think he’s got it right though I wish things were otherwise. That is, I wish people did hear the mic drop, but expecting that much of the public is a flaw shared by Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama, who seemed to believe that people might […]
