EXHIBITIONS COORDINATOR & CURATOR

Organization: Society of Illustrators
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – minimum three days per week in the office)
Position Type: Independent Contractor (Part-Time)

Position Summary

The Society of Illustrators seeks an experienced Exhibitions Coordinator & Curator to join our team as an Independent Contractor, overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of exhibitions at the Museum of Illustration. Working closely with the Executive Director and Society staff, the contractor will manage all aspects of exhibition development, installation, and deinstallation while collaborating with artists, collectors, lenders, and partner organizations. 

This position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented arts professional with experience in exhibition management, curatorial research, collections handling, and project coordination.

  1. I have absolutely no experience but hire me anyway. I can delegate everything, and I can be charming in a sinister fashion. Hey, it works for others, mentioning no names. Unlike those others, I’m a cartoon,comic-strip and book nerd so I’d actually know what I was talking about when schmoozing with customers and donors.
    Pretty please, I’ll be your best friend and a modest bribe of collectible figures is on the table…
    God, I need a life.

  2. They need better advertising. I didn’t even know the place existed until they did a Jack Davis exhibit some time ago, and I’ve lived here a long time. Now, I’m a regular. It’s a fantastic place.
