Art Spiegelman: Disaster is My Muse Nominated for Peabody Award

The 86th Peabody Award nominees have been announced. The Art Spiegelman documentary “Art Spiegelman Disaster Is My Muse” made the list of 20 films up for the award in the documentary category.

From the nomination description:

This documentary explores the life and work of Art Spiegelman, best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel “Maus,” as he emerges as a leading advocate for free speech in response to book bans and rising authoritarianism. The film highlights Spiegelman’s impactful contributions to the world of comics and art, showcasing how he uses his medium to address personal and collective histories while championing the importance of subversive storytelling in contemporary culture.

The winners in entertainment, documentary, news, podcast/radio, arts, children’s and youth, immersive and interactive media, and public service programming, will be announced during the May 31 ceremony in Los Angeles.

The Peabody Award is a recognition to the “most powerful, enlightening, and invigorating stories in all of television, radio, and online media.”
