New(ish) Flash Gordon Artist

Flash Gordon panel by Dan Schkade and Sandy Jarrell – April 3, 2026

Monday, March 30, saw Dan Schkade share creator credits with artist Sandy Jarrell on Flash Gordon. Sandy was one of the guest artists last year in the Lowland Station Tales, now he has returned as the daily and Sunday artist for the foreseeable future – meaning at least through next week.

All About the Cartoonists

A couple of Dave cartoonists started the week mentioning themselves in their panels. Dave Blazek in dry storage at Loose Parts and Dave Whamond doing his thing in a Reality Check. Then, beginning Sunday April 29, in a then and now of Nancy current cartoonist Caroline Cash tries to get some tips from reclusive former cartoonist Olivia Jaimes. My favorite was Nancy referring to them as her and Sluggo’s babysitters.

Nancy by Caroline Cash – April 2, 2026
Ripley’s Believe It or Not by Kieran Castaño – May 31, 2022
Ripley’s Believe It or Not by Aquino – April 1, 2026

Remember how Kieran Castaño would draw himself in the Ripley’s Believe It or Not panels? I have to wonder if new cartoonist Aquino did the same for the April 1, 2026 panel.

By the way, the credit for Ripley’s BION title was changed this week on the GoComics page. It had read “By Kieran Castaño” now it reads “By Ripley.” Soon we will get a “By Aquino” credit, with a first name I hope.

Here’s a change I don’t like

Comics Kingdom/King Features roster

Above is the Homepage for the King Features/Comics Kingdom Comics A-Z listing, all on one nice tidy page. Below is the Andrews McMeel Syndication list of their syndicated comic strip and panel titles.

Andrews McMeel Syndication comics listing

Or rather it was how AMS listed their titles on one nice tidy page. That changed this week to a 14 page listing featuring eight titles per page.

Andrews McMeel Syndication “All Comics”

Not the neat, orderly single page I was accustomed to. Nope, don’t like it, don’t like it one bit.

New College Comic

Alodapus by Molly Malloy, The Daily Emerald

Alodapus by Molly Malloy is a comic strip for University of Oregon’s The Daily Emerald I recent came across. An alien visiting Earth, specifically Eugene, Oregon.
