Dennis the Menace’s April Fools Prank

On April 1, 2026 Dennis the Menace, the 75 year old five year old, is showing up in random comic strips as seen on the Comics Kingdom site (not in the strips and panels actually syndicated to newspapers). By my count he appeared in at least 30 Kingdom strips not counting his own.

As seen in The Family Circus above the engineers at Comics Kingdom took old images of Dennis and inserted him into the strips, with some attention paid to stay in the spirit of the comics theme of the day. To see the comics without Dennis’ rude interruption go to one of Comics Kingdom newspaper digital sites like USA Today.

There were, however a couple cartoonists that took on the challenge before the CK crew could.

And it seems cartoonist Ricardo Martinez joined in the fun adding Dennis to the Goomer comic strip.

  1. THAT must have thrilled already-cranky subscribers…

  2. We will note that the superimposed images of Dennis the Menace were not included for the mailing list recipients, though at least some of the newspaper digital sites included the April Fools joke.

  3. One of my favorite parts of being a syndicated cartoonist is getting to play in the great big comic strip sandbox, April fool’s day was always such a fun tradition, I’m glad to be a part of a small return to the mischief of the funny pages on that day.
