The New Yorker’s 2025 Cartoons & Puzzles Issue

cover by Luci Gutiérrez for The New Yorker Cartoons & Puzzles 2025 issue

I wasn’t paying attention when I noted Emma Allen‘s article about Otto Soglow. It was only one small part of The New Yorker’s annual Cartoons & Puzzles edition for 2025.

The highlight of the issue are the “comic strip” profiles of a half dozen former New Yorker cartoonists by current New Yorker cartoonists.

Michael Maslin offers a link to each of the graphic profiles:

Roz Chast on Gahan Wilson

Summer Pierre on Helen Hokinson

Navied Mahdavian on James Thurber

Emily Flake on Alice Harvey

Ali Fitzgerald on J. J. Sempé

Liana Finck on William Steig

But wait! There’s more!

New Yorker Cartoons Through the Decades

Continuing the Centennial Celebration they present a gallery of 100 years of past New Yorker cartoons.

Plus Françoise Mouly‘s “cover story” about the Luci Guttiérrez cover and the issue’s new cartoons.

And there are games and puzzles.

Most of those links are for subscribers only. I need to get to my local Barnes and Noble tout de suite.
