2025 European Cartoon Award Finalists Announced

First there was the long list, then the short list, and now finally we get the finalists for the European Cartoon Award. The finalists include: Emad Hajjaj, Zehra Ömeroğlu, and Tjeerd Royaards.

The winner will be announced next week during their annual Cartoons Day in Hague, Netherlands.

International cartoons should be understandable internationally, without local knowledge. i’m an American who follows much international news, but have no idea who the out-weighing woman (?) is , and am not sure if the negotiating table is Israel/Hamas or US/Russia. Netanyahu on the carpet of blood, crossing repeated red lines, was not only perfectly clear but made 2 points at once.

  That would be the woman who was drugged by her husband and raped, over a period of years, by much (most?) of the male population of Mazan, France. (I admit I had to google to be absolutely certain of the name, but “Mazan rape trial” was pretty much a giveaway.)
