The Illustrated 2025 Guest Jumbler Profiles

The annual Guest Jumbler Week with six cartoonists, all syndicated comic strip artists this year, taking over for the regular creators David L. Hoyt and Jeff Knurek on the very popular Jumble puzzle.

Is there a daily newspaper that does not run the feature?

The Jumble Facebook page ran the puzzles and short profiles of the Guest Jumblers.

We start the week off with The amazingly talented, Jonathan Lemon. Jonathan, recently took over the art duties on the comic strip Alley Oop which has been running in newspapers since 1934. A former award-winning musician and stand-up comedian, his other daily comic strip, “Rabbits Against Magic,” has been nominated for two Silver Reuben awards. Lemon was born in Watford, England and has lived in the United States for over 25 years. He currently resides in San Francisco with his wife and small human child. He has no cats.

Today, Flo and Friends, visit the Jumble. The wonderful Jenny Campbell brings us her hilarious comic on the secrets of “Aging with an Attitude”. Jenny’s strip features a group of older women and men dealing with the perils and perks of being old, the rules of chocolate, and the challenges of families.

Today we’re rockin’ with George Gant‘s, Award-Winning, Beware Of Toddler. Toddler follows the relatable parenting adventures of a stay-at-home dad trying to survive daily life at home with his wild two year old daughter. The Toddler spends her days tormenting her father in a never-ending pursuit of cookies and juice. This is such a great comic!

Today we welcome John Kovaleski‘s, Daddy Daze! Daddy Daze follows the adventures of Paul, the father, and Angus, his son, as they have imaginary adventures to tender bedtime moments and hilarious encounters with the rest of the world. John is an amazing cartoonist and good friend!

Today we have the honor of having Rina Piccolo as our Guest Jumbler. Rina is part of the award winning team that brings you, “Rhymes With Orange“. In 2017, Rina joined up with cartoonist, writer and Original Guest Jumbler, Hilary Price, to collaborate on Rhymes. Rina was also a corroborator on the syndicate “Six Chix” comic. We are grateful to have her jump in here and show off her amazing talent and humor.

We end our annual guest week with our long time favorite viking, Hägar the Horrible! Hägar broke all records when it was launched on Feb. 4, 1973, becoming the fastest growing comic strip ever. Originally by Hi and Lois artist Dik Browne. Dik based the characters on his family. Hägar and his wife, Helga are currently drawn by our guest, and Jumble fan, Gary Hallgren. I had the pleasure of meeting Gary and this year’s Reuben Awards and he graciously accepted the invitation to be part of our festivities.

There is more information and the complete Jumble puzzles at the Jumble Facebook page. Or the puzzles are also available at the aforelinked Jumble site where you (well me anyway) can be embarrassed as they time how long it takes to solve the puzzles.
