The New York Comic Con Is On! – Comic Strippers Are There

The New York Comic Con weekend begins today (Comics Beat covers it in full). Mostly comic books but as usual there are comic strip related projects taking place. Like the Comics Kingdom booth.

The National Cartoonists Society will also be there with members showing up throughout the run.

The New York Comic Con also issues the annual Harvey Awards with Sarah Anderson and Charles Burns among the nominees in the Book Awards for 2025. There is also the Harvey Hall of Fame Inductees, for 2025 they include comic strippers Patrick McDonnell (Mutts) and John Byrne (Funky Winkerbean), and New Yorker cartoonist Barbara Shermund.

At the Comic Con itself there are other comic strippers and cartoonists who have a Daily Cartoonist stamp of recognition featured. Among those guests are Bill Plympton, Chip Kidd, Dan Parent, Frank Cho, June Brigman, Larry Lieber, Liz Montague, Luke McGarry, Peter Kuper, Tom Richmond, and probably others that I overlooked scrolling through the hundreds of guests listed.
