Why Are All Those Characters in the Wrong Comic Strips? It Must Be Reubens Week.

A bunch of comic strip characters are making guest appearances in other than their own comic strips this Sunday. So what’s going on? My theory is the cartoonists conspired for this to happen because it is Reuben Week.

Fort Knox sneaks some Bloom County residents into that comic strip.

Arlo and Janis mentions Snoopy.

Snoopy (and Opus and Bill) also makes an appearance in Prickly City along with a number of other characters.

Snoopy is part a different cast of cartoon characters in Bizarro.

That spinach eating sailor seen above doesn’t guest he, with a buddy, stars in Mutts.

Mother Goose and Grimm play host to 101 guests.

That Bizarro snippet features a cartoonist, as does JumpStart.

The Phantom showcases a cartoonist early in his career.

Then Frog Applause reveals what we all knew by telling us it is about an awards show.

And what better way to end than to pay tribute to a cartoonist who has won as many NCS awards as anyone? Warped honors the centennial of Mort Walker‘s birth on September 3, 1923.
