David Illsley – RIP

Cartoonist David Illsley has passed away.

David Avard Illsley, age 81, of Edgewater, Florida, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at Advent Health New Smyrna in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, after a long illness.

David had been employed as an Artist/Cartoonist/Videographer, in TV, newspapers, and educational venues in various cities.

David had a relationship with Continental Features/Continental News Service where at one point they listed a number of comics by the cartoonist:

… Similarly, for distribution of payment of a share of our newsmagazine sales and as an independent consumer purchaser of newspaper features, we have business-to-business relations with or otherwise have contracted with these cartoonists … David Illsley (“Manatee Bay,” “Kids Today,” “Boomer Blogs,” “Wet Noses,” “Ribs ‘n Jibs,” “Otto Focus,” “Speed Bump,” “At the End of the Day,” “Born Yesterday,” and “Goin’ It Alone”)

Goin’ It Alone was listed in the Editor and Publisher Syndicate Directory 1985-88 but it has yet to be found in any newspapers; possibly it appeared in regional magazines such as his Ribs ‘n Jibs below.
