Happy Halloween!

To commemorate Halloween, I’m posting this 1953 animation of The Tell-Tale Heart based on Edgar Allan Poe’s short-story of the same title.

“Never more, quoth the raven.”

Thanks, Alan.

That was such an exciting period in animation history. Great designers got the keys to Columbia and produced little gems that could take advantage of limited animation.

It didn’t last too long, but long enough.

Great short.

Interesting fact about it. According to Leonard Maltin’s “Of Mice and Magic” The Tell-Tale Heart was specially photographed to achieve a 3-D effect, but was ultimately never released in that format.

Not sure if any 3-D version could have possibly survived, but I imagine it would have looked pretty cool.
