Comic Strip of the Day

CSotD: Rhoda Morgenstern with a hangover

Nemi

There was always speculation about how much of Cathy was autobiographical, but one thing that was clear was that, as Cathy Guisewhite grew and aged in real life, the cartoon character also went through some transformations.

Which brings us to Nemi, who has certainly grown and changed since her heavy-metal self first emerged 13 years ago. Not surprising, as creator Lise Myhre has gone from about 22 to 35 years old, single to married, and had a child, over those same years.

But, with Cathy retired, it is no longer necessary to come up with reasons why Nemi is the most entertainingly neurotic single woman in comics. If, indeed, you needed some in the past. The combination of hip and hopeless will never go out of style!

  1. I discovered this strip by actually finding one of the books in the Boston Public Library and fell in love with it. I wish there was an archive site of the strips on the web, though..At least I can find the latest ones on the METRO..
