Hi & Lois to hit small screen in Europe

Mort Walker has entered into a co-development agreement with Yowza Digital & Kavaleer Productions to create a television program based on for Mort’s Hi & Lois comic strip.

The co-development agreement gives Kavaleer the exclusive right to represent the property in Europe, allowing them to seek distribution and broadcaster interest as well as meeting with the funding bodies based in Ireland.

Yowza, a Toronto-based animation and visual effects house, and Irish animation house Kavaleer will be working closely together in the coming months. With such a large body of work – spanning fifty years and over 1,100 daily newspapers – there is plenty of inspiration at their disposal.

So that’s two of Walker’s strips to hit television – there was an animated “Beetle Bailey” series back in the ’60s.
