‘Despicable Me’ character designs, trailer posted

Randall Sly, over on his Character Design blog, has posted screen grabs of characters in the upcoming movie “Despicable Me” which is due out July 9, 2010.

Wow, that is a wonderfully rotund family! The new standard for depicting western norms and waistlines, hm? Speaking as a ‘fat american’, I resemble that remark…

I read where the animation was farmed out to a French studio. I’d be suspicious if the character designs weren’t developed here in the states. ;)

looks like good work…we’ve come a long way since the ol’ light box technique..i still have my old acetates from the animation studio!!

Looked more like the Wall-E and the Fantastics style of characters to me (than Ice Age and Horton). Interesting caricatures.
