Ann Coulter pulls a Ted Rall, reaction is different

With the release of Ann Coulter’s new book, she’s generated a lot of press and controversy over some of the things she has written – and a few are questioning the reaction from the public who’s knickers were in a complete twist when ultra-liberal Ted Rall made some of the same points earlier.

From the Boston Globe opinion page, Cathy Young points out that Ted was first to mock the “terror widows” and lost several clients as a result.  Even more detailed is the write up by Phil Reisman of the Journal News who outlines the financial cost to Ted for going after the “terror widows” which Ted estimates to be between $40,000-$50,000.  Editor and Publisher writers Dave Astor and Greg Mitchell have asked Universal Press if any newspapers have cancelled their subscriptions to Coulter to which they replied no.

Is there an example of a media bias or the power of imagery over words?

  1. Neither. I just figure that the people who would cancel their subscriptions over this are the ones who wouldn’t read Ann Coulter’s column in the first place.
