Tea Fougner Signs with Boom!
Skip to commentsTea Fougner, who parted ways with King Features early this year, has signed on as an Executive Editor with the comic book company Boom Studios.

Tea Fougner had spent 12 years with King Features Syndicate (KFS) rising to Editorial Director for her last six years with the comic strip syndicate before they ended their relationship in January of 2025.
Highlights from her time at KFS include being the mastermind behind the limited series webcomics of Popeye’s Cartoon Club and Flash Forward which eventually led to Randy Milholland taking on the Sunday Popeye as cartoonist and the revival of the Flash Gordon comic strip by Dan Schkade.

Tea is one of a group of editorial people hired by Boom! Studios as Heidi MacDonald reports.
As for Tea:
Tea Fougner will be coming to BOOM! Studios from King Features. Tea spent 16 years in the editorial department of King Features Syndicate, including the past seven as Editorial Director. Tea’s experience working with characters from the very earliest days of comics, like Popeye, Flash Gordon, and The Phantom, give her a unique perspective on our ever-evolving marketplace. This, coupled with her significant achievements in advancing the works of underrepresented creators, makes Tea a fantastic addition to BOOM! Studios team. Tea will be co-leading our eponymous (and largest) imprint, BOOM! Studio with Sebastian Girner.
Tea, Kwanza, and Sebastian will start with BOOM! on June 23rd, and all bring a wealth of talent and experience, as well as unique backgrounds and perspectives, to the BOOM! team.
So excited to be making my new home at BOOM! with all these (and many more) talented people! I loved every one of my interviews for this role and am incredibly honored to be able to join this team. Let’s make some comics!!!!
