Zits coming to the small screen?

Deadline.com is reporting that movie and TV mogal Jerry Bruckheimer is working to create a half hour live action comedy sit com based on Jerry Scott and Jim Borgman’s Zits comic strip. Donald Todd, who was the co-creator, executive producer of the ABC comedy Samantha Who? is the writer-producer for this script.

OMG WHY? Have they learned nothing from Japan, where live action versions of manga and anime are made all the time, and suck compared to the originals?

Baby Blues was live action? I hadn’t heard of that. And now that I think about it, I’m glad I never saw it. I agree with Pyle – live action versions of animation or cartoons takes away the magic…

Live action? Wow I cannot possibly see how a great cartoony strip like Zits will transfer to real actors? Be interesting to see.

Actually, the Baby Blues series was animated. It aired on WB for few weeks, then Adult Swim aired it.

I wonder how they are going to deal with aging in live action version, as in the comic the characters didn’t really age.

I think it could be done well. There’s nothing wrong with mixing some surreal stuff with teen comedies. I’m thinking of Parker Lewis Can’t Lose and Better Off Dead.
