Maltese cartoonist and author Ġorġ Mallia has passed away.

From Sarah Carabott and The Times of Malta:

Academic, cartoonist and author Ġorġ Mallia has died at the age of 68.

Mallia served as head of the Department of Media and Communications, where he mentored hundreds of students at the University of Malta.

As a Printing Processes lecturer, he introduced the idea of an annual series of a student-produced magazine The Scream in the 1990s.

But many first met the beloved lecturer as small children. Mallia produced several children’s books, which he also illustrated.

Mallia was also a Times of Malta cartoonist, with his last ŻEPP strip published on Sunday.
