Video: Jack Ohman accepts The Herblock Prize
Somehow missed Jack Ohman‘s Herblock Prize (“the highest honor in American editorial cartooning”) acceptance speech from a couple months ago as posted at the Herblock Video YouTube channel. The address is a fantastic 20 minutes: Jack is by turns funny (mostly), emotional, nostalgic (his childhood in The Sixties), and autobiographical about his cartooning career.
Pedro X. Molina Wins NCS Silver Reuben for Editorial Cartooning
Pedro X. Molina, who Jack Ohman praised as the runner-up in his Herblock Prize acceptance took home the National Cartoonists Society’s 2026 Silver Reuben Award for Editorial Cartooning this past weekend.

Molina, who was forced to flee his native Nicaragua in 2018 due to a crackdown on journalists, has won numerous awards for his cartoons. He was named a finalist earlier this year for the Herblock Prize. His work is published in Spanish at Confidencial.digital, and in English on Counterpoint. Molina is syndicated through the Tribune Content Agency.
Golding, Herbert, Wilcox Are Finalists for Journalism Excellence Awards
On the other side of the world the Australian Kennedy Foundation of New South Wales has released the finalists in the 2026 Kennedy Awards for Excellence in Journalism.
In the category we are most concerned with the finalists are:

The Climate Change in Political Cartooning
It’s a worldwide phenomenon that editoonists in the U.S. are not immune to.
Dowel Biswas for The Daily Star talks to some cartoonists about “The Changing Climate of Political Satire;” subtitled: leading Bangladeshi cartoonists on political tagging, backlash and the shrinking space for satire.
Bangladeshi cartoonists know [the discomfort of unsettling power] intimately. Censorship, political labelling and organised backlash have shadowed the profession for decades. The latest example came when one of the country’s most prominent political satirists, Mehedi Haque, found himself at the centre of coordinated criticism for doing what political cartoonists are expected to do: draw satire in response to the national conscience.
For many cartoonists, the issue is no longer only censorship. It is political tagging, organised outrage and the growing fear that every drawing will be read through partisan allegiance rather than artistic intent.
