Jaime Hernandez, Trung Le Nguyen Graphic Novels Win LA Times Book Prizes
Skip to commentsThis weekend was the L.A. Times Festival of Books where they unveiled their best books of last year. Jaime Hernandez took home the prize in the Graphic Novel/Comics category, and Trung Le Nguyen (Trungles)‘s graphic novel “Angelica and the Bear Prince” won the Young Adult Literature category.
Jaime graphic novel “Life Drawing: A Love and Rockets Collection” (Fantagraphic) is part of his long-running “Love and Rockets” series. It’s his second win in this category, his prior win in 2014. The book was also awarded The New York Times Best Graphic Novel of 2025.

- “The Ephemerata: Shaping the Exquisite Nature of Grief”, Carol Tyler, Fantagraphics
In the Young Adult Literature Trungles’ “Angelica and the Bear Prince” beat out several fictional books. “Agelica and the Bear Prince” is about high school girl named Angelica who feels burned out from trying could do everything perfectly. She finds comfort and romance through online conversations with the mascot of her local theater.
