Cartoon Museum Celebrates 20 Years

The Cartoon Museum in London is turning 20. The museum is home to over 300 years of British cartoon and comic history including over 14,000 artworks and publications.

According to their website in the last 20 years they have welcomed 500,000 local, national and international visitors, exhibited more than 200 cartoon, caricature and comic artists, and supported the work of new talent through our Young Cartoonist in Residence program and conferences.

They have started a Crowdfunder campaign to raise £20,000 to help support their future efforts. From their campaign:

Every bit counts! If you are able to donate, we appreciate your contribution towards our £20,000 goal. These donations will help us achieve our 2026 goals to: re-launch our In-Focus programme of rotating exhibits, transport our collections safely into more suitable long-term storage and provide accessible opportunities for young people.

Again, from their campaign:

We are a small independent museum in receipt of no regular funding. The financial landscape for cultural organisations has changed. In order to continue caring for our collections, engaging audiences and nurturing promising talent, we need your help to build a sustainable path so that we are fit for the future.

I’ve been to the Cartoon Museum and it is indeed a worthy museum to visit and support.

You can support their crowd-funding project by making a donation via Crowdfunder.
