CSotD: It takes guts to publish this kind of humor

Okay, I had this other strip pegged for Comic Strip of the Day.com. It was very intelligent and made some good points about an important topic, and the art was good … and then I came to Medium Large and it's good I'm not a liquid-out-the-nose type because I was drinking hot coffee.
Francesco Marciuliano is one of the funniest people in cartooning and has turned staid old "Sally Forth" into a daily adventure in sly innuendo and bizarre fourth-wall humor. You might think it amazing that he could do this within the somewhat limiting boundaries of good taste imposed by daily newspapers, but not if you also follow Medium Large, where he is not bound by those boundaries and the things he can't say in the paper can come out to play.
I often laugh at Medium Large and I often look at it and say, "Um … no, my mother reads my blog" and move on. This is a relatively tame strip in that universe and, besides, it pokes fun at a highly popular TV franchise I have never liked because I have never felt that Max Headroom special effects were an adequate substitute for good writing, character development and pacing.
But apparently that's just me, because it's a ratings giant that has spun off enough clones to make this strip semi-plausible in a world where today's ridicule often enough turns out to be tomorrow's newest hit series.
